I am a PhD student who specializes in U.S. Environmental History. This blog comes out of my current research on the history of the ski industry. In many ways this blog is a way for me to work through ideas as I go through archival sources from small and large archives throughout the country. My other goal is to introduce skiers to a different type of history. Rather than focusing on famous athletes (or famous figures) I hope to offer stories about lesser know actors and events.
As a child I learned to ski in the Poconos, and at Killington and Steamboat Springs. In college I called Stratton and then Gore my home mountain. After college I moved out to Snowmass to work as a ski instructor. The AspenSnowmass mountains have served as my home mountain ever since.
